Iran’s senior retired diplomat Sheikh said that our foreign policy is based on the rejection of hegemony.
Retired diplomat Alireza SheikhAttar mentioned The Supreme Leader’s reminder to The Government and said: “This reminder has a theoretical and historical background; A country’s theoretical notions and roots are reflected through The Foreign Policy more than any other policy.
He added: “Some States assume that if they pay ransom to the superpowers then they may assure their felicity and security; In other words, they rent their security and obeying the orders of other dominant powers is considered as their external policy.
Talking to our program “Rooydad” he further said that some of the countries don’t get into a conflict with others; They either surrender to them or try to hide behind other powers.
SheikhAttar reiterated that The Islamic Republic of Iran’s approach is a heritage of Imam Khomeini which is based on the idea of resistance towards 4 centuries of secularism.
He said that such a notion brings Religion to the forefront of the social and political policymaking platform. “The Shia school of thought denies the hegemony. Therefore, our foreign policy is also based on the same concept.”
He called the Ministry of Foreign Affairs an executive office that is not in a position of deciding the major policies of The Country. These policies are decided by the higher authorities who are also devoted to Imam Khomeini’s heritage.
“It doesn’t mean that The Foreign ministry is not taken into consideration; Actually, they’re the executive force of the policies which are decided on the highest level.
Mr. SheikhAttar also said that The Foreign Office must remain loyal to The System’s theoretical structure. “They cannot retreat from these principles.”
SheikhAttar pointed out that dealing with the principles is not limited to Iran; Every country’s external affairs are decided by the higher authorities of that state.
SheikhAttar added that The Founder’s heritage has remained secure in the hands of the leadership and if the International situation inclines towards a war then obviously The Armed wing will reinforce the country so the external affairs can carry on its mission smoothly.
He called the divisive view towards The Warzone and Diplomacy a baseless assertion put forward by Mr. Zarif and was due to his habitual and emotional nature.
He further added: “The gentlemen who claim to be an alumnus of Foreign Relations, should look back over their syllabus and try to find out if there is a difference between the Ground Reality and The Diplomacy even in the classical literature of the International Affairs?”
Sheikh Attar reminded that The Islamic Republic of Iran has decided to become a role model and an effective power; Therefore, its foreign approach must be based upon its policies.
