In our latest episode of “Bedoone Khat khordegi” show, we discussed the Parliament’s statement regarding the nuclear talks with the Deputy Director of the Commission for National Security and International Policy of the Iranian Parliament, Dr. Ebrahim Azizi through a telephone call.

Ebrahim Azizi explained the demands and expectations of the Parliamentarians from the Government regarding the talks and said that 250 members of the Parliament had signed this statement which was declaimed during one of the sessions.

He said that the Parliament pursues active and dignified diplomacy for the Islamic Republic saying that the current government has chosen the same path in most of its decisions while maintaining the same course as the Parliament.

Mentioning the statement produced by the American Congress, the Deputy Director of the National Security Commission of the Parliament said that the Islamic Republic of Iran, naturally has the utmost right to take a solid and bold revolutionary decision to stop the USA’s avarice. “It’s a step that must be taken by the Government, the Parliament, and the nation simultaneously.” He added.

He also explained the phrases and the approach of the statement of the Parliament. “We wanted to remind the government that their diplomatic team is negotiating with a bunch of countries who do not respect any obligations in words and also in practice. Therefore, the negotiating team must receive the necessary and serious guarantees from the other side beforehand.”

Dr. Ebrahim Azizi pointed out that the western governments had always tried their best to harm Iran in every possible way, even during the period when the Nuclear Deal was being practiced. “In our statement, we’ve emphasized that any attempt to shock our economy and interests by the enemies will be met by a hard response from the Parliament.” He affirmed.

The member of the Parliament added that the statement has asked the government to learn a lesson from the previous experiences, especially the JCPOA. “They are negotiating on behalf of the great Iranian nation; therefore, they must always recall the previous episodes of the talks.” He reiterated.

Dr. Ebrahim Azizi also emphasized receiving guarantees from the Western negotiators and called it of vital importance for the Islamic Republic of Iran. “The direct or indirect return of US to the deal must recompense the harm which was done to the Iranian nation previously.” He said.
