Radio Goftogoo’s “Without Scrawl” program had a phone call interview with Dr. Taqawi Nia, a West Asia expert, over the latest political changes in Lebanon in forming the new government.

Taqawi Nia stated that Lebanon is under the most severe economic terrorism in its history imposed by the United States of America; “The economic condition is such that people are even in line at the bakery and bread is rationed, and even fuel is hardly found in Lebanon.”

He mentioned that Lebanon’s Prime Minister had originally planned to travel to Iraq to advance affairs in Lebanon, but he was opposed by Iraqi Prime Minister “Mustafa al-Kadhimi”; “Many experts believe that this opposition was ordered by the United States, and this shows that Biden, like Trump, intends to continue the pressure on the Lebanese government until the people can no longer stand it and thus pave the way for the disarmament of the resistance movement.”

Regarding Lebanon President, Michel Aoun's order to Saad Hariri to form the cabinet, the West Asia expert explained; “Mr. Hariri has introduced the cabinet list several times, but this cabinet, contrary to democracy, couldn’t obtain the positive vote of the Lebanese parliament’s majority, namely (the March 8 Alliance), and therefore Michelle Aoun defied this cabinet.”

Regarding Hariri's role in this situation, Taqawi Nia said; “Hariri is politically using the existing pressures against the Lebanese government and people to impose his own cabinet, which he claims is a technocratic and non-partisan cabinet. This is while the cabinet introduced by Saad Hariri is completely opposed to Lebanon’s resistance movement as well as the majority of the parliament. All over the world, it’s diplomatically recognized that the ministers appointed by the Prime Minister should be approved by the Parliament, but the current proposed ministers are not approved by the majority of Lebanon Parliament.”

Taqwa Nia then told of the US ongoing and maximum pressure to disarm the resistance; “France's position was somehow moderated due to its influence in Lebanon and therefore agrees to form a government in Lebanon, but this government should be considered by the French. It is in line with Western policies and Saad Hariri is their choice.”

When asked what role Saudi Arabia plays in Lebanon's current problems, the West Asia expert replied; “In general, I don’t see much role for Saudi Arabia because the Saudis basically don’t have the power to interfere in Lebanon’s affairs.”
