Dr. Reza Aghazadeh, Director General for Asia-Pacific Department of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, interviewed the "Economic Dialogue" program about the economic characteristics of Iran-China comprehensive cooperation agreement.

Noting that China is currently the world's second largest economy, Aghazadeh stated that China is the largest exporter of goods in the world, and also the largest trading partner of the United States, as well as the European Union, Korea and Japan, and has a vast presence in the global economy.

"(Possessing) greater share in the global economy leads to a greater power for influencing other countries, and for this reason, some countries, including Western countries, are opposed to China’s increasing gain of power and its vast presence in the markets,” added Aghazadeh.
"We have a potential capacity of about $ 28 billion for export to China, but we can only complete such a capacity through investment and making economic connections," said the Director General for Asia-Pacific department of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran.

Aghazadeh announced that countries in the region and those which surrounded Persian Gulf have long been negotiating a free trade agreement with China; “The 25-year agreement is in line with this and provide us with an opportunity to play and revive a leading role in the economy, and not to fall behind other countries.”

Regarding the impact of inappropriate infrastructure, including multi-currency on Iran-China trade relations, he stated; “There are many countries which aren’t under sanctions and yet they face lots of economic problems, but despite being under sanctions and internal problems, we’ll continue our activities.”
Aghazadeh stressed on sustainable investment and mentioned that it requires transparency in laws and regulations, as well as protecting the investor’s rights; “if the necessary infrastructure for investment is not provided, the 25-year contract won’t be effective.”

The Director General for Asia-Pacific Department of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran emphasized that Iran-China agreement isn’t a monopoly, but rather the build of mutual trust; “Trust is the foremost pillar in foreign and domestic investment, and this agreement means that we welcome investment.”

He considered it necessary to have a full understanding of China’s culture and economy and said; “Many of the subjects raised in this agreement was proposed by Iran, and it is not as if they have put a plan in front of us and we (just) signed it.”
